LaserCard Corporation’s LaserPASS
product line combines optical memory – the world’s most counterfeit resistant
multi-biometric technology – with a contactless or
RFID chip, enabling the most secure electronic identity solutions for the
21st century.
For the first time,
nations, businesses and individuals can have the unbreachable
ID document security provided by optical memory combined with the convenience
of RFID in a single card, along with the confidence in the ability to
visually determine authenticity of the document thanks to Embedded HologramHD technology.

LaserPASS – Border: Secure ID for border
crossing applications
LaserPASS – Border provides governments with
complete flexibility in applying security at border entry points depending on
the current threat level. Inspection can range from RFID-enabled
facilitation, to rapid inspection of the card’s visual security features, to
RFID-database lookup of the cardholder’s facial image, to one-to-one
biometric ID verification using data stored in the card’s optical memory … on
up to a combination of all these processes to provide the most secure
electronic ID solution in the world today.

LaserPASS – Access: Secure badge for
facility access applications
Traditional proximity physical access cards are convenient however, they
present potential risks. If lost or stolen, they can be used for
unauthorized entry. The LaserPASS – Access
card mitigates this risk. The building’s access control system is set
up to require periodic card-to-holder ID verification and validation of the
badge’s access rights. This is achieved by a one-to-one biometric ID
verification, comparing a template stored on the optical memory of the card
(e.g. fingerprints) with the live scan of the actual cardholder. This
process can be securely conducted in unattended mode at a kiosk or at a guard
station.

LaserPass Physical Access
System –
Combining HID Corporations world leading Proximity physical access system
with the world’s most counterfeit-resistant multi-biometric ID card
technology.
HID proximity cards and readers are recognized
as the industry standard for physical access control. Featuring 125 kHz RFID
technology HID prox products are robust,
affordable, and seamlessly integrate with access control systems.
Now, LaserCard
Corporation has teamed with HID to add the unparalleled security and
multi-biometric capability of its LaserCard optical
memory technology to the HID system.
Advantages of this
approach include:
Adding optical memory
to a Prox card:
Following cardholder enrolment, the standard Prox card is first printed with the cardholder’s data
(assuming this is the current policy) and an optical memory “label” is
laminated to the card.
The optical memory is then personalized with
digital information such as the cardholder’s facial image, biometric data
(such as fingerprint, hand geometry, iris pattern or any other ID
verification system), name, demographic information, department, personnel
number, etc.

LaserCard Corporation’s use of LaserPass
LaserCard Corporation is in the
highly secure ID card business. Our customers demand that we maintain the
highest levels of security to protect their interests. When we took over a
new facility in 2004, it was already equipped with a powerful and efficient
HID Prox access control system. However, the basic
inability to positively identify each cardholder meant that we had to either
find a way to upgrade the system or replace it.
It
clearly made business sense to upgrade. Working together with HID,
optical memory was added to our employees’ Prox
cards. The system now controls access to the building based on the most
secure ID verification credential (optical memory), and then bestows on
employees their traditional access privileges within the facility.
This
new capability was added quickly and efficiently, without disruption to the
existing system or procedures, and LaserCard
Corporation now has one of the most secure access control systems in an
industrial setting. Ask for more info.
Electronic Passport Data Page

Many countries are now
migrating to electronic passports. In fact, the
LaserCard Corporation provides
sophisticated solutions for issuing electronic passports that conform to the
latest ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards. The use of
several strong security features provides the highest level of protection
against counterfeiting.
The contactless
chip which contains biographical and sometimes biometric data as well, such
as fingerprints, can either be integrated into the book or into the holder
page of the passport. Hence, the data page can be supplied by LaserCard with or without the chip. In addition, the
polycarbonate surface can be securely personalized.
From the professional
printing to the encoding of the chip, depending on your specific
requirements, LaserCard can supply the personalized
data page of the passport with several security features.

The Crypto SF OMC Encoder is specified for secure card programs
requiring tight control on card registration, distribution and personalization.
Its functions include the encoding of cardholder data as digital files as
well as engraving the Embedded
Hologram OVD for visual verification and counterfeit resistance. Available
key features of this unit include automatic card authentication, fraudulent
card disabling, contact or contactless IC Chip
reader.
The Encoder can be integrated into the LaserCard
Initializer for automated card serialization
and low volume personalization encoding. For higher throughput requirements,
the Encoder can also be integrated into multiple encoder robotic systems. The
drive is a stand-alone peripheral, supplied with drivers and DLLs for rapid
integration into standard PC environments. In industrial environments,
isolation from dust and other hazards is advised.

The LaserCard Biometric Verification
System (BVS) enables instant card authentication
and rapid cardholder biometric ID verification.

The systems performance capabilities enable
rapid transactions for convenience, high service levels, and efficiency.
For example, the BVS reads and displays a color photograph and
grayscale fingerprint image, verifies a scanned fingerprint against a stored
template, and displays demographic files from the LaserCard
optical memory card, all in less than 5 seconds.
For biometric verification only, such as in automated kiosk
systems, BVS confirms cardholder biometrics in less than 2 seconds.
